Adgestone Vineyard

Brading, Isle Of Wight

Since July 2013, Russ Broughton and his family have expanded and developed the original Adgestone Vineyard and brought it back to life. You can walk through the vines and take in the spectacular views out to sea.

It is thought the Romans were growing vines on the same slopes some 2000 years ago.  The chalky south facing soils and almost frost free microclimate makes for an advantage seen in very few English counties. This creates an environment where the vines can grow without using insecticides, the juice can ferment and the wine can mature naturally without additives or hi-tech chemistry.

They offer free wine tasting and have a quaint café with log burner and veranda serving light lunches with a glass of your choice. Their wine tours show how the whole operation works. As well as wines, they have accommodation for those after a few quiet nights away.

Their other homemade drinks including cherry, almond and lemon liqueurs are popular. Keep a look out for their eye-watering Arson Fire liqueur with its chilli bite.
